People Group: A group of people with unique characteristics that separate them from having close contact with other people groups. Barriers between people groups can be things like language, cultural acceptance, religion and more. Church planting cannot spread with the gospel between people groups without breaking barriers.
Unreached People Groups: People groups who have little to no access to the gospel with no or very few believers among them.
Unengaged People Groups: People groups that are unreached, where there is no church-planting plan started. No one is committed to long-term ministry among these people.
"Jesus said, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'" (Luke 10:2 ESV)
A glimpse into an Unreached People Group:
High in the mountains of China’s Yunnan Province lives an obscure minority people group. Their brightly colored clothing, language, food, architecture, folk dancing and festivals distinguish them from every other people group in the world. They number in the tens of thousands. The impoverished people live off the land and have few educational opportunities. Most cannot read. To initiate contact with them, one must ride a bus for hours on end, then hike several hours from the main road to their villages. Their isolated villages are not accessible by any kind of vehicle.
FUGE 2018 has committed to pray for the 208 unreached and unengaged people groups in East Asia. This gospel movement cannot happen without the partnership of churches who are willing to advocate for them. The first step: prayer.
